▎Product Overview

Brief Description: Tin-Free Steel (Electrolytic Chromium Coated Steel, ECCS) is a cold-rolled low-carbon steel sheet coated on both sides with a thin dual layer of metallic chromium and chromium oxide. The coating delivers excellent lacquer adhesion, corrosion resistance after coating, high hardness and heat resistance—making TFS ideal for ends and closures across food, beverage and general-line packaging.

▎How It Protects

TFS protects via a dual chromium coating: a metallic chromium underlayer topped with a chromium-oxide film that creates strong chemical anchor sites for primers, lacquers, and inks. After coating and baking, the lacquered system forms a continuous barrier that delivers excellent corrosion resistance—including sulphide-stain resistance—while the hard chromium surface adds abrasion durability. Because the surface is chromium, it is not readily solderable; parts are typically joined by electric-resistance welding or by adhesive/cementing.
